A Safe Zone is a place where all individuals can feel comfortable, whether they are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, questioning or heterosexual. The purpose is to create an evironment committed to openness and respect where all individuals can feel "safe" discussing issues that shape and individualize us, regardless of sexual orientation.
The pink triangle was worn by prisoners in Nazi Germany whose only "crime" was being homosexual. It has been adopted by the lesbian and gay movement in both memory of oppression in the past and as a symbol of hope for a better present and future.
